Image of Fantastic Autumn term 2024 review!

It’s been an exciting, busy first term of our 2024/25 academic year with lots to celebrate

We had our annual visit by Rock Kidz who rocked out with our children and staff whilst talking to the children all about resilience (one of our school values)

Our Meet the Team meetings with parents were a great chance for parents to find out what their children will be doing over the year and what the expectations are for the year to come

We introduced our ‘3 bes’ (Be Ready, Be Respectful, Be Safe) to all the children and families and we are creating a long display in the corridor to show everyone what it means

We had our Anti-bullying week (and Odd Socks Day) in which we celebrated our differences and taught the children about how to stand up to bullying (and the importance of caring for each other and not bullying others)

Our Scholastic Book Fair was well attended and there were lots of great books for the children to buy to inspire their love for reading

This year’s Pupil Parliament were elected in November and they are meeting to talk through ways in which they can help our school improve and to ensure the pupil voice is heard

Year 6 had an amazing time at Hothersall Lodge in Longridge where they excelled themselves with their team-work, and skills (despite the cold weather) with canoeing, archery, climbing and many other activities (including bed-making!)

We collected for Macmillan cancer research and care with our annual coffee and cakes and a big thank you to all the parents who took part

The PTFA put on a wonderful Halloween Disco and lots of chocolate prizes were won at the PTFA Christmas bingo

Money Matters training for Years 5 & 6 was delivered and in December we received a special award from the Debt Aware team in recognition of our commitment to financial education

Police Pals were established in liaison with the local Police Community Service Officers (for Years 5 and 6 pupils) supporting initiatives around school and the pupils have been issued with their uniforms and equipment for helping to make our community a safer, happier place to be

Our Year 6 children took part in a Cyber Challenge event and our Year 1 children went on a trip to Leyland Transport museum

Plenty of sports took place over the Autumn term including Girls football tournament; Dodgeball competition; multi-skills club for EYFS; dodgeball club for upper KS2; handball festival; SEND panathlon (multi-skills); Year 6 athletics club

The highlight of the Autumn term was the visit to our school of Max Whitlock (the most successful British gymnast of all time) who delivered an assembly and led a PE lesson with our Year 3 children.

Our new school building is progressing well and two of our children lay the first bricks with CONLONs workers and Charlie CONLON

Our youngest children in school wowed us with amazing Christmas performances of ‘Shine Star Shine’ and ‘It’s a Baby’.

We had our delicious Harry Potter themed Christmas lunch provided by Dawn and Kerry in the kitchen and we even had a visit from both Dumbledore and Father Christmas himself (who answered lots of challenging questions from the children about his role and responsibilities!)

The Parents afternoon/evening was well attended and we had some good responses from the on-line google parent survey.

Our school choir got Christmas off to a merry start for a lot of shoppers at Tescos and for visitors and Mayor at the Leyland Transport Museum as well as in our end of year Christmas Carol event where we also admired the dioramas and Christingles created by Year 4 children.

We are so proud of all our children and staff for an amazing first term and I am sure 2025 is going to be another eventful and successful year at Seven Stars school.
