We are the wonderful Apollo Class!
Staff:
Our class teacher is Miss Fletcher.
Miss Thornborrow, Mrs Carter, Miss Rogers and Miss Melling support us in class too.
Daily routine:
In Apollo class, children do lots of short bursts of learning followed by movement breaks and choosing time. We start the day with some playdough time to get our hands ready for writing! Each morning Apollo class complete Handwriting, English, Reading, Phonics and Maths activities. Some of our learning is together as a group, some tasks are independent and we also have personalised 1:1 activities with an adult based on our own targets. In between our learning, children have access to both indoor and outdoor continuous provision as well as indoor and outdoor regulation areas.
After lunch and breaktimes, children regulate by doing breathing activities and story time with staff to ensure they are ready to continue with their learning.
In the afternoons, children take part in foundation subject lessons, PE and a dedicated communication session to work on Speech and Language targets.
Curriculum:
This half term our topic is 'Minibeasts.' In English we will be learning all about snails to create a non-fiction book. We will also read the snail story 'Matisse's Magic Trail.' In Science we will learn about different kinds of minibeasts and their habitats. Children will then go on to look at their own homes and where they live in Geography. In Art, children will work on mark making and in music they will learn about different tempos by studying a song about a snail and a mouse.
Computing, PE and PSHE are taught discretely and this half term children will learn some basic coding in their computing lessons as well as practicing fundamental skills in PE such as climbing, jumping, throwing etc. In PSHE, children are learning about what makes them special and how to keep themselves safe. From time to time, we also do extra PSHE to help with any social situations, incidents or difficulties that may arise during the school day.
Maths is taught on a 1:1 basis using the Maths For Life programme which is aimed at developing Maths Life Skills for the children.
Timetable:

Thursday- PE/ Swimming

Homework:
Reading books will be changed on a Friday. Please try to listen to your child read two-three times a week to develop fluency. After half term, additional homework games may be sent home.
Building independence with getting dressed, shoes, coats and getting the correct school equipment ready is also encouraged!
We are keen to explore, care and grow as we engage in our amazing daily adventures in learning!
