What is SMSC?

SMSC stands for spiritual moral, social and cultural development.

Spiritual includes exploring beliefs and experiences, respecting faiths, feelings and values, enjoying learning about themselves, others and the world around them and reflecting upon all this.

Moral includes learning about and recognising right and wrong, understanding and respecting the law, understanding there are consequences to their behaviour and exploring moral and ethical issues.

Social includes learning a range of social skills, participating in the local community in a positive way, appreciating others' viewpoints, engaging with the British values of democracy, the rule of the law, liberty, respect and tolerance.

Cultural includes leaning to appreciate cultural influences and differences, appreciating the role of the parliamentary system, participating in culture opportunities and understanding, accepting, respecting and celebrating diversity.

At Seven Stars, we are committed to ensuring that the children are prepared for life through SMSC education, British Values and through our values approach.  This will enable the children to develop the skills and confidence needed to establish their role within a harmonious society.
