I’m Deborah Wright, the Family Support Mentor here at Seven Stars School. My role is to support parents and carers to ensure that their children can fully engage with learning. We want your children to have a positive, enriching time at Seven Stars in order to reach their full potential.

I work closely with all staff in school, always with the individual child’s interest at the heart of my support. In school I am part of the Safeguarding Team, I work with outside agencies to support you or your child, offering a comprehensive and confidential service to families who are experiencing change or just need that little bit extra help to get them through the difficult time. Sometimes my role is just to give a ‘listening ear’, and having a good knowledge of what is out there for parents in this area, I can point them in the right direction.

Listed below are some areas in which I can offer support:

  • Friendship
  • Attendance
  • Family circumstances affecting your child
  • Bereavement
  • Housing
  • Health Concerns
  • Debt
  • Or just a ‘listening ear’

Within my role I would like to involve parents within the school community. I will be organising a coffee morning to give parents the opportunity to meet other parents and also to look at ways in which they can share school life with their children. Don’t panic I won’t make you sign up to things you’re not happy doing!!! This would be a good way in which you can share ideas with me about the kind of workshops/groups which would benefit parents and families.

You can see me in the playground at the start or end of the day for an informal chat or to make an appointment. I appreciate that often during difficult times it is hard to come into school so if needed I will do home visits.

Here at Seven Stars we believe in a nurturing and holistic approach and we understand the importance of working together with families for the best possible outcome of the child.
