Welcome back

Once again it was lovely welcoming all the children back after the half-term holiday. We hope you all had a great half-term break.

There are a few colds and illnesses going round (time of year!) so please ensure you child maintains good hand hygiene and if they are genuinely ill then please keep them off school until they have recovered.

It is going to be, as ever, a busy term as we build up towards Christmas so please check the dates at the end of this newsletter.

Halloween Disco fun!

The children from Years 1 to 6 enjoyed their scary disco on Tuesday and a huge thank you to the PTFA and all the staff who helped to make it happen.

It was the first disco in our new hall and the children were very well behaved and had lots of fun.

There will be further PTFA events throughout the year so that we can include our very youngest ones as well and I know they had a lovely time with their magic day in class.

Bonfire fun

We hope you have a great bonfire/firework night

The children who went to Worden Park said it was amazing

I’ve seen some brilliant bonfire/firework art work around school

Please remind your children about firework safety as there are no doubt still a few fireworks around yet to be let off!

Anti-bullying week

We are having Anti-bullying week next week when we will be talking to the children all about how to NOT bully and how to stand up to bullying and what to do about it if it happens.

We do not allow bullying in our school at all and where some children are struggling in their relationships or being mean to others we always tackle it as soon as we can.

For some children they do struggle with getting on with others and we have to teach them how to be kind and caring – but eventually they get there with our help.

We will be talking about ‘Power for Good’ and listening to a great song:

Odd Socks Day

On Monday we are inviting the children to come to school in odd socks.

It is a great opportunity to talk about how we are all different in different ways, but it is ok to be ‘odd’ because we all are!

We can still be ‘odd’ (i.e. different from others) and get on with everyone.

We will be talking about kindness and how to care for and encourage one another.

Resilience

Resilience is our school value for this term and it is so important for our children to learn all about how to be resilient. It is a crucial life skill and especially important in their learning and in their relationships with each other.

There is a great 8 minute video about resilience that we are showing the children to teach them all about it:

Children in Need

It is Child in Need day on Friday 14th November and we are inviting the children to come to school with either crazy hair or own clothes (or both!) for a minimum donation of 50p to raise money for children in need

YOUNG VOICES:

For parents of children who are in Young Voices, tickets are available to purchase from the Young Voices Music Room for the concert at the Manchester Coop Arena on 5th February 2026.

If you haven't already, you can sign up for the music room here to purchase your tickets and it gives children access to the songs to practise at home:

Poppy Appeal
Our Year 6 children have been coming round the classes over the last few days selling poppies and various items towards the Remembrance Day poppy appeal.

The basic paper/card poppies are a donation of at least 20p
The plastic posh poppies are 50p or more
The other items (snap rulers, ribbons etc) are £1 or more

All money raised will go directly towards the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal allowing them to provide practical, financial and emotional support to our Armed Forces community.

Welly stores

We are starting to get into place some welly stores (you will see some on the playground already) – once they are in place we will send a Class Dojo message to all parents to start bringing in wellies

Slippers

Those children who have been bringing in their slippers to wear in class have been very sensible and we are pleased to say that since it has worked so well and the children have been so sensible we will be continuing to allow children to bring in sensible slippers for wearing indoors IF they would like to do so (see previous newsletters and messages)
