At Seven Stars Primary School and Nursery, the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children is a priority. We are committed to supporting pupils with allergies and ensuring they can participate fully in all aspects of school life.
In line with the Department for Education's Allergy Safety in Schools statutory guidance and the requirements introduced through Benedict's Law, the school maintains a dedicated Allergy Safety Policy which outlines how we:
- Identify and support pupils with allergies.
- Work in partnership with parents, carers and healthcare professionals.
- Maintain Individual Healthcare Plans where required.
- Train staff to recognise and respond to allergic reactions and anaphylaxis.
- Store and administer emergency medication, including adrenaline auto-injectors (AAIs).
- Promote inclusion on educational visits, clubs and all school activities.
- Record and review allergy incidents and near misses to improve safety.
